Social Sciences Research Assistant

A community-based research project on dengue control, coordinated by the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, requires Social Sciences Research Assistants, with the qualifications and expertise listed below.

Educational & other requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in social sciences (Sociology, Social Anthropology, Psychology, Political Science, Mass communication, journalism, Linguistic, etc.) Preference will be given to the candidates those who have followed their basic degrees in English medium and have proven abilities to translate Sinhala/ Tamil scripts to English)
• Hands on experience in data collection, both qualitative and quantitative research required.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, transcribing and translation skills in both English and Sinhala/Tamil.
• Ability to transcribe Sinhala/Tamil texts directly onto a computer.
• Ability to effectively deal with study participants & families, medical professionals, government & private authorities and other stakeholders
•  Ability to work in the Gampaha district
• Flexibility to work during extended working hours, weekends & holidays

Contract: Renewable project-basis contract for 01 year
