Clinical Trials Unit, University of Kelaniya and RemediumOne to Co-Host Symposium at the 5th Annual Academic Sessions of the Sri Lanka Society of Nephrology

We are pleased to announce that the Clinical Trials Unit of the University of Kelaniya and RemediumOne, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Society of Nephrology, will co-host a significant symposium titled “Lessons Learnt from Clinical Trials and Cohort Studies.” This event will take place on November 22, 2024 (Friday), from 12:00 PM to 1:15 PM, at the Lotus Ballroom, Shangri-La, Colombo.

The symposium will feature distinguished speakers who are close collaborators of RemediumOne and bring a wealth of expertise in nephrology and clinical research:

• Prof. Richard Haynes, Professor of Renal Medicine & Clinical Trials, Nuffield Department of Population Health, University of Oxford.
• Prof. Martin Gallagher, Clinical Associate Dean of Medicine & Health, School of Clinical Medicine, University of New South Wales, and Director of the Renal & Metabolic Division at the George Institute for Global Health.
• Prof. Vivekanand Jha, Professor and Chair of Global Kidney Health, Imperial College London, and Executive Director of the George Institute for Global Health, India. He is the Immediate Past President (2019–2021) of the International Society of Nephrology.

The session will cover insightful topics, including discussions on frail and multimorbid patients’ treatment with SGLT2 inhibitors, lessons from national randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving dialysis catheters, and exploring the dual nature of clinical trials and research.
