Karthi Gajendran, a dual British and Sri Lankan citizen, brings over three decades of extensive international experience in investment, development, and operations across various industries, including infrastructure, healthcare, and hospitality, in Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
From 2010 to 2020, Gajendran served as the President of Airport Development for GVK, one of Asia’s premier private airport companies. During his tenure, he spearheaded multi-billion-dollar airport development projects, including the $2.5 billion investment at Mumbai International Airport and the transformation of Bangalore International Airport into award-winning, world-class airports. His strategic initiatives also expanded GVK’s operations into Indonesia, significantly boosting Bali International Airport’s non-aeronautical revenue.
Prior to his role at GVK, Gajendran held key executive positions at the global major Jacobs-CH2MHILL and the world's leading marketing services group WPP Hill and Knowlton, contributing to their rapid growth in Europe and the Middle East. He has also played a pivotal role in humanitarian projects, notably leading the USAID-funded tsunami reconstruction program in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and initiating the 1990 SUWA SERIYA emergency ambulance program in Sri Lanka.
A seasoned public speaker and expert in FDI and PPP policy development, Gajendran continues to influence and drive substantial international projects and collaborations.
