Dengue

Dengue is endemic in at least 100 countries mainly the tropical and sub-tropical countries. In 2017, the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health (MoH) Sri Lanka, reported 80,732 dengue fever cases, including 215 deaths. 42.23% of the dengue cases reported were largely from the Western province namely Colombo. In order to minimize the health, economic and social impact of the disease, necessary approaches are to be taken but the development of specific dengue therapeutics are lacking and is currently limited to vector control measures.
